چکیده

Background: It has been confirmed that the daily consumption of seaweed such as Wakame (Undaria pinnatifida) and Kombu (Saccharina japonica) an inhibitory effect on rise in postprandial blood glucose levels. Similar effects can also be expected for Mekabu, which is sporophylls contains large quantities water-soluble dietary fiber. In this study, we examined preprandial intake Mekabu levels regulation-related hormones healthy young women. Methods: The subjects were ten adult women. was eaten, followed by rice only. Blood sampled five times: while fasting (0 min), 15, 30, 90, 120 minutes after eating. Measurements taken level hormones.Result: Eating before resulted a significant reduction Δglucose Δinsulin at 30 ingestion (p = 0.034, p 0.049, respectively). concentration glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) plasma higher eating 0.044), 60 0.0.31), 0.019) when eaten preprandially. Conclusions: present GLP-1 secretion sustained sporophylls, rice. Our results suggest ingesting amounts viscous alginic acid, prior to meal not only suppresses level, but supports extended GLP-1, providing sustainable incretin effect.

The role of NK cells in antitumor activity of dietary fucoidan from Undaria pinnatifida sporophylls (Mekabu).

Fucoidan from Mekabu (sporophyll of Undaria pinnatifida), a dietary alga, exerts antitumor activity possibly through enhancing the immune response. The present report describes the effects of dietary Mekabu fucoidan on the tumor growth of mouse A20 leukemia cells and on T cell-mediated immune responses in T cell receptor transgenic (DO-11 - 10 - Tg) mice. The animals were fed with a diet contai...

Effects of the intake of Undaria pinnatifida (Wakame) and its sporophylls (Mekabu) on postprandial glucose and insulin metabolism.

Long-term suppression of postprandial glucose concentration is an important dietary strategy for the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes. Because previous reports have suggested that seaweed may exert anti-diabetic effects in animals, the effects of Wakame or Mekabu intake with 200 g white rice, 50 g boiled soybeans, 60 g potatoes, and 40 g broccoli on postprandial glucose, insulin and ...

Novel antiviral fucoidan from sporophyll of Undaria pinnatifida (Mekabu).

Structural characterization and antiviral activities of fucoidan from sporophyll of Undaria pinnatifida (Mekabu) was examined. The fucoidan was composed of fucose and galactose with an approximately ratio of 1.0:1.1. Degree of substitution of sulfate was 0.72 and its apparent molecular weight was 9,000. Methylation analyses showed that fucoidan had various sugar linkages, and revealed that the ...

Anti-Metastasis Effect of Fucoidan from Undaria pinnatifida Sporophylls in Mouse Hepatocarcinoma Hca-F Cells

Metastasis is one of the major causes of cancer-related death. It is a complex biological process involving multiple genes, steps, and phases. It is also closely connected to many biological activities of cancer cells, such as growth, invasion, adhesion, hematogenous metastasis, and lymphatic metastasis. Fucoidan derived from Undaria pinnatifida sporophylls (Ups-fucoidan) is a sulfated polysacc...
